Dear Mayor Mike: With All Due Respect!

Dear Mayor Bloomberg, 

So today I was on my way to the Subway particularly early and as such I was in time to get a daily copy of METRO New York, a popular free paper here in the city.  Now this is not the best news by any means, usually just regurgitated noise, etc., but it actually makes my little train trip to class a little more bearable, if for no other reason than I can at least get my horoscope! (Today's: Be supportive, but keep a low profile.)

Now, imagine:  I've got a skim cafe latte in one hand, my roller bag in another with a croissant in a paper bag , and the paper tucked under my arm, getting on to the 2 train for my daily trip into Gotham.  I manage to get all this in the train without dropping anything, sit down in my seat, put my cafe in my lap, orientate myself to be able to eat my croissant and read the paper at the same time, and I am all ready to go!

THEN I open the paper to this little nifty headline: GANG 'WILDING' ROILS MIDTOWN.  Good tag, so of course I open it up to read -- thinking that "those gang members must have tagged Bubba Gumps" -- only to find out that NOOOO!, those Gangs didn't tag anything! They had a SHOOT OUT instead -- in the middle of Times Square -- ON EASTER SUNDAY!  What the Holy Fudge!

Reading through the article it seems that Easter Sunday is the traditional day for Gang Initiation Rites, where, as METRO quotes on page 2 "they recruit new members or step up in ranks, like a five star general"!   I was sitting on the train just flabbergasted -- I mean WHO KNEW!, only to read further the time line of the events this past Sunday, that is, 12:08 a 21 year old was shot in the leg on 8th & 41st; 12:28 a woman was shot in the face with a BB Gun at West 51st & 7th; and then at 2:08 2 women shot outside Penn Station at 7th Avenue & West 34th.  CAN YOU BELIEVE THIS? IN NYC?  IN 2010?  Then it only took me to read a bit further into the little article became I became completely OUTRAGED -- and I quote YOU  "The mayhem....appears to be a bunch of gang members wilding...We loaded the area up with police but they can't be everywhere".....(page 2)

I cannot believe that THAT was the response of YOU, OUR MAYOR ELECT-- Gang Members Wilding????? We just can't have the Police everywhere?  Why this sounds like nothing more than a weather report, " Today's skys in Manhattan will be sprinkled with bullets as Gang Members celebrate their Inaugural Vettings! Do carry an umbrella!"

I gotta say it: MAYOR BLOOMBERG, WITH ALL DUE RESPECT, THAT IS CRAP! WHAT KIND OF MESSAGE DOES IT SEND WHEN YOU APPEAR NO MORE OUTRAGED BY THIS THAN SAY, THE YANKEES THROWING A GAME? Like, you know...we are doing the best we can but we just can't stop the thugs! Well, let me tell you something babe, YOU BETTER STOP THE THUGS because you know all those pretty, chic business' that you moved into Manhattan to pay "market value"? All your nice rich friends??  Ya know how Disney sort of owns Times Square now and it's all fun adn games for the children? WELL THEY ARE GONNA BE OUTTA THERE AS FAST AS YOU CAN SAY "STRIKE" if this nonsense continues, which will only undo all that you have per se "done"!

I LOVE THIS CITY and brag all the time that NYC is safe -- but lets get clear as to why -- BECAUSE GIULIANI didn't put up with this sort of WILDING -- not for a minute and he didn't come to the podium to say how "he was trying -- but the Police just couldn't be everywhere to help".  Funny how, before this year I didn't even know Easter Sunday had such a history!   The reality is if you give one inch to these sorts they will turn this city into MAYHEM and it won't just be on Easter.  Whatever sorts of cuts you've been making to  make sure your business pals survive or to make the budget balance, or whatever, you sure as FUDGE better not be cutting the Police Force in NYC! Are you CRAZY???????!!!! Have you LOST YOUR MARBLES? And further, while we are speaking about cuts -- allowing the MTA to cut station attendants is CRAZY TOO!

I gotta wonder? What is the logic of these  "people cuts" that you are allowing with the MTA and the POLICE?  You are a pretty sharp fellow, right -- a self-made Billionaire? AN ARTS SUPPORTER MAGNIFICENT!  So there must be some logic to the decisions.... hmmm... perhaps its that you just don't want to be re-elected for that 3rd Term after all!

No argument from me.  A few more headlines like today's and you'll never see my vote!

In fact I may even begin a little campaign to RE-ELECT GUILIANI for his 3rd Term instead!
